After your stay in Bayeux or at the Mont-Saint-Michel...
Just a short introduction to our neighboring, the romantic and scenic Brittany...
9 am: Meet at the hotel in Bayeux (or Mont-Saint-Michel).
Route to Dol-de-Bretagne, our first stop. You will discover this lovely town with its medieval houses and mansions. We will visit the amazing Cathedraloscope museum to learn more about the remarkable work of our ancestors and to try to understand how they managed to build beautiful cathedrals all around Europe.
Back on the coast via Vivier-sur-Mer, we will drive along the scenic Mont-Saint-Michel bay until Cancale. Cancale is more than a scenic fishing harbour, it is also famous for its flat oysters product. On low tide you can see from the quays the oyster banks.
After a gourmet lunch break at the "Le Coquillage, Bistrot Marin" owned by the famous Chef O. Roellinger, you will have time to stroll through the village with its lovely houses built in local schist. Continue onto the pointe du Grouin, a botanic and ornithological reserve. After a stop for a photo we will continue our route along the Emeraude coast to reach Saint-Malo in the late afternoon.
Dinner at leisure, overnight in Saint-Malo (intramuros).
Scenic Brittany.
9 am: Meet at the hotel with the guide. Visit at Saint-Malo, the famous Corsaires and ship owner's city! We will walk along the ramparts and in the old town (intra-muros) with its granite houses... We will continue our route along the Emeraude and Penthièvre coast. After a quick city tour of Dinard our next stop will be at Fort-la-Latte. Situated in a wonderful setting, the military fortress - dated 14 Century - overlooks the sea.
Further onto Cap Fréhel, one of the most famous natural site of Brittany with its moors, pink granite and porphyry cliffs which gave its name to the coast, later on Sables-d'Or-les-Pins seaside resort, Cap Erquy and the traditional fishing harbour of Erquy producing scallops and spider crab, Pléneuf-Val-André... an afternoon to enjoy beautiful landscapes and views over the sea and to catch the magic atmosphere of Brittany.
Dinner at leisure, overnight in Saint-Malo.
9 am: Meet at the hotel with the guide. We will leave the maritime Brittany and enter inland. Route along the River Rance Valley, with picturesque villages and small harbours like Saint-Suliac.
We will reach Dinan which is one of the oldest medieval towns of Brittany. You will love this village with remarkable half-timbered houses, ramparts, the Belfry and the famous Jerzual Street leading down to the harbour... after visiting the city and some time at leisure we will continue our route to Rennes to catch a TGV back to Paris around 5 pm or return to Bayeux.
